Message 7 Release Date 1/2/2006
Message 7 East Hampton 09:45.
Report:
Was on the 2nd leg of our Montauk to Brooklyn Trip. It was about 35 degrees, and completely still when we launched. Since the weather was good we had planned for a long trip 23 Statue Miles down the coast.
It was a nice day of paddling, and stayed calm, but overcast for most of the day. We made good time and got back to the car just as it started raining at 16:30.
The bottle was found 3 years later, see the comment.... Here is a picture after recovery!

tim: I received an email on 6/3/2011 from meghan who found this bottle in 2009.
So it was at sea for over 2 years maybe 3. It was probably sitting on the sand all that time. I posted the picture back on the blog.
Email I received from mehgan, and my response...

meghan,
Thank you so much for the email!!
I received it while living in Papua New Guinea. If you had told me in January 2006 that I would next see the bottle and note here I would never have believed it.
Sure keep and enjoy the bottle. I found it as beach trash.
What a surprise after such a long time. That is a record for any of my bottles. Do you know the approximate date you found it.
I can' t imagine that it was at sea all this time, do you think it was buried in the sand on the beach, I would have thought that it would have been picked-up or plowed under.
I posted your email and picture on my blog thank you again for sending it.
